Moon's Kitchen began its fame in the back of the 1955 Moon's Gun and Tackle Shop-- a popular Boise sporting goods store, run by Bernie and Cid Moon. The famous counter, at which many Boiseans, old and new, have enjoyed countless meals and memories, was created by Martha Moon. She purchased three cash register stands from a local grocery store that was closing its doors, and compiled them to create the perfect milk shake counter that has stood the test of time. To this day, Moon's favorite customers come in and recall having enjoyed the famous milk shakes served to them on that very counter as children.
